ABC National Excellence in Construction Award Winners

ABC Florida East Coast Chapter would like to congratulate Premier Stoneworks, LLC and MCM on their ABC National Excellence in Construction Awards!

Premier Stoneworks LLC
Category: Exteriors: Masonry, Precast or Stone
Project: Bearded Man
Project Location:
Miami Beach, Florida

This magnificent carving once adorned the façade of 530 Lincoln Road. Removed sometime during the Modern Architecture movement, the Bearded Man was forgotten by the local community. Invaluable to the history of Miami Beach, it was brought back in the summer of 2015 during the building’s renovation. Known for their professionalism and craftsmanship, Premier Stoneworks was responsible for replicating this masterpiece and carving the new art work. This historical restoration required precision, attention to details, creativity and collaborative work between the architect, Premier Stoneworks and Miami Beach Historical Preservation board.

Category: Institutional - $10 to $25 Million
Project: Homestead City Hall
Project Location:
Homestead, Florida

Construction of an 83,841-SF, 3-story new City Hall with Council Chambers occupancy for over 250 people, Emergency Operations Center, Mayor and City Manager’s offices, Council Members’ offices, Development Services Department, Finance Department, Human Resources Department, Customer Service Department with Work Order and Billing, General Services Department, City Clerk’s Office, and IT System support rooms and associated electrical and infrastructure rooms.

The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry’s leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer.

The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A panel of industry experts served as the competition’s judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the Construction Users Roundtable and the National Association of Women in Construction and higher education.

In order to be eligible for an ABC National Excellence in Construction Award, members must have won an EIC award at the chapter level.
