What is Green Advantage?

Green Advantage® is an environmental certification for building-related practitioners. Certified individuals have successfully passed the Green Advantage® Certification Exam demonstrating knowledge of current green building principles, materials, and techniques.

What you will learn:

  1. Understand and enforce the core concepts and construction principles behind sustainable buildings leading to holistic view from the different trades of their work.
  2. Integrate green practices and strategies into construction processes.
  3. Become knowledgeable enough about the LEED rating system as it applies to construction to be an active partner with design professionals to achieve a LEED rated building.
  4. Become thoroughly prepared for the Green Advantage Certified through a 90-minute, 60-question test that will be taken a week after the course.

The Sessions are organized as follows:

Session 1: Laying the Ground Work Introductions, The Big Picture of Sustainability, First Cost v. Life Cycle, Overview and Impact of the LEED rating System upon the Construction Industry; Construction Operations includes LEED workbook, Construction Waste Management and much more.

Session 2: Building a Green Project Structure, Walls, Windows, Roofs, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, LEED Documentation

Session 3: Finishing the Project Interior Finishes, Equipment, Landscaping, Project/LEED


Workshop:

A one-day workshop that discusses green construction concepts, materials, and practices. Participants will be prepared for the Green Advantage® Environmental Certification examination.


Who should attend?

Contractors, subcontractors, project managers, assistant project managers, superintendents, assistant superintendents, foremen, field managers, job coordinators, inspectors, and trades people all use Green Advantage® to demonstrate knowledge of current green building principles, materials, and techniques.
