 | ABOUT THE TRADE Construction sheet metal workers design, fabricate and install duct systems for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The duct systems deliver fresh and conditioned air and remove stale air from our living and work environments. Sheet metal workers also fabricate and install aluminum siding, metal roofing, flashing, gutters and downspouts, metal pan ceilings, skylights, vents, hoods, food service equipment and many other construction related products. Most sheet metal work involves working galvanized steel, copper, aluminum and stainless steel sheets under 1/8 inch thick. However, sheet metal workers also work with metal sheets up to 1/4 inch thick.
Sheet metal workers must have a working knowledge of mathematics, blueprint reading, and drafting. They must also be proficient in the use of trade-related hand and power tools, as well the machinery and equipment used in sheet metal fabrication shops. Sheet metal workers also need a working knowledge of soldering and welding.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS ABCI sheet metal instructors are accomplished journeyman or master craftsman in their trade. They are state certified and registered craft instructors with the National Center for Construction Education and Research.
TRADE RECOGNITION ABCI's Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Program is registered in the State of Florida and is nationally recognized by the United States Department of Labor and accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research.
